  3. Today, we will: • Explain role of the Finance Committee • Educate Senators on the Finance Process • Go over examples of what types of events and activities we fund • Your role as a senator • Answer any questions you might have about money, life, me, etc…

  4. 8 student reps, Director & Assistant, 1 Senate Rep, 3 Advisors, & General Manager (or rep) Analyze all budget requests & give detailed analysis of each $ request Mondays at 2pm in the A.S. Office Role of Finance Committee

Tell me about the Finance Process • Week 1: Monday at 12:00pm budget requests due • Week 2: Monday at 2:00pm the committee meets to hear and deliberate on budget requests • Week 3: Tuesday at 2:00pm the Director will make recommendations to the senate. • Week 4: If approved, signature cards may be picked up at the A.S. office

What is a Complete Request? • Brief overview of organization (history). • Goals and Objectives • History of proposed program/event. • Timeline / schedule of event • Evaluation of past history (if any). • Funding from other sources (revenue). • Budget Breakdown. • Application must include all 3 signatures, senator’s letter, and all 20 copies (19+original).

  10. Finance Process Boo Boo’s What can go wrong? • Incomplete requests • Unanswered questions • Senators’ lack of attention • Finance Committee/Senate Postponing item

Be a mentor to those requesting funds (do your office hours) Don’t sponsor if request is not complete Be able to represent and defend what you sponsor Be comfortable with not signing if a budget is incomplete or if you have personal issues. MUST review all request in Senate Finance Binder before senate meeting. Consult Director of Finance and/or David with questions/concerns. What do I do as a Senator?
