  1. Dual Enrollment Statistics 4 Simple Steps!

  2. There Are 4 Steps to Enroll • Apply to the Early College Program • Meet the prerequisites • Register for the class • Pay for the class

  3. Step 1 - Applying • If you applied to the ECP last year for another dual enrollment class, you’ve already done this. • Otherwise, go to apply.isu.edu to apply. • Be sure to select the application type “Early College Program”. • The registration is free, but last year the site mentioned a $50 charge, which was also not true then.

  4. Step 1 - Applying • Then you have to get the High School Verification form filled out. • You, your parents, and your school councilor need to sign it. • Then, the form needs to find its way to the ECP office. It can be mailed, faxed, taken in person, or if necessary even sent with me. • I might be up to a week delivering it as I do not get to leave Highland often before the ECP office closes.

  5. Step 1 - Applying • Once the online registration is completed and the form is submitted, you are mailed your logins for BengalWeb. • This usually takes a few days (2-3).

  6. Step 2 - Qualifying • Not just anyone can dually enroll in stats through ISU. • You are required to have: • A composite ACT score of 25 or higher. • A math ACT subscore of 25 or higher. • A 47 or higher on the Compass Test for College Algebra.

  7. Step 2 - Qualifying • If your ACT score was high enough and you listed ISU as one of the schools to send it to when you took the test, they already have the score. • If your ACT score was high enough but you did not list ISU, you could still qualify, but you will have to pay to have the score sent to ISU.

  8. Step 2 - Qualifying • If you need to take the compass test for the first time, call the testing center and make an appointment. • (208) 282-4907 • If you need to take the compass test a second time, you can see Mary Johnston for advice on how to score better on the compass test. You will still need to call the testing center and make an appointment.

  9. Step 2 - Qualifying • The compass test costs $5 each time you take it, but the first time you take it, they will waive the cost if you are an Early College Program applicant. • You can take the compass test once a day. • If you get even a 43, I should be able to get an override for you. • The override takes time, so I’d need to start that within about a week from now.

  10. Step 2 - Qualifying • If you took the compass test before you applied to the ECP, they may need to manually enter the compass test score for you. • This can have a 24-48 hour turnover time. • Punchline: The last minute is too late to get on this stuff. • Start today!

  11. Step 3 - Registering • Once you meet the pre-requisites, you will need to log in (with the logins that were mailed to you) and register for my Math 1153 class. • You need to register for the hour you are in this trimester. • Do not register for the wrong hour, please.

  12. Step 3 - Registering • You have to register by October 1st. • Even though registering only takes 2-3 minutes, the journey to be able to register is much more time consuming. • If you do not unregister (drop) the class by October 1st…you are stuck with the fee, even if you later withdraw.

  13. Step 4 – Paying • It is $195 for dual enrollment tuition. • This is less than the cost of 1 credit at normal price. • Once you register, but before you pay, a scholarship can be applied for, but many of these have deadlines even earlier than October 1st.

  14. Step 4 – Paying • Payment is made at the administration building. • If you drop the class before October 1st, but you did pay already, there is a $25 refund processing fee. • If you are not sure if you will take dual enrollment, hold off on paying until you are sure. • But go ahead and register now.

  15. Step 4 – Paying • After October 1st, there are no refunds. • After October 1st, if you transfer to another school, have a schedule conflict, just decide not to stay in the class, or decide you do not want to be dually enrolled, then you can withdraw from the class (which is much more complicated than dropping it). • But you get no refund.

  16. Further Information • If you need to know more about this process, ask me. • Also, you can visit the ECP website. • www.isu.edu/ecp • You can even call the ECP office. • The staff is crazy friendly and super helpful. • 282-6067 • ISU’s administration is not known for being easy to deal or for getting things done…but the ECP is a definite exception.
