  2. ANNOUNCEMENTS • Final Exam is Fri. May 1st • Practice exam will be posted week before final • LH7 • Noon – 2 pm • NO MAKEUPS • Oral Presentations Next Week In Lab • Poster Presentations the Following Week In Lab

  3. POSTER PRESENTATION • Same topic as Oral Presentation • Come to lab with printed poster and material to hang it on wall (tape, etc..) • Must submit text to Turnitin.com (see website) • Be prepared to answer questions from TAs & faculty • Be the EXPERT on your topic!

  4. POSTER PRESENTATION • Sections: • Title • Abstract • Introduction • Materials & Methods • Results • Discussion

POSTER PRESENTATION • Title: • Should be appropriate to experiment conducted • Include full names of all group members • Abstract: • Short paragraph that summarizes entire experiment • Should include general trends in data and major conclusions • Introduction: • What was the purpose of the experiment? • Give background on experiment, function of instruments, specialized techniques used, species anatomy & physiology • Two sources from scientific journal

  6. POSTER PRESENTATION • Materials & Methods: • Mention major instruments used • Don’t detail every step; just indicate overall approach • Results: • Display data in TEXT and graphical / tabular form • Point out salient features of data (trends, etc..)

  7. POSTER PRESENTATION • Discussion: • Tell audience what data signifies. Give interpretation • Mention error (in experimental design, instrumentation, etc..), especially if it may have influenced results • Note how data taken together fits into the big picture • Suggest directions for future research • References: • Two citations • Use format on course web site
