Approach • Coordinate among state agencies – Florida Park Service, Forest Service, and Fish & Wildlife Commission • Prioritize state conservation lands for monitoring per protocol w/250 acres+ of habitat • Ensure diverse representation of Florida habitats, geographic features • Considered previous published data

  3. Challenges • GIS analysis proved that soil data is incorrect/inconsistent • Acres of habitat differs by GIS model • Limited funding compared to acres of habitat on important conservation lands • Time needed to survey all important areas

  6. Next steps • Contract w/Jones Center • Order 10 sets of burrow scopes • Finalize list of properties • Train staff • Ready, set, survey!
