Office for International Studies Safety and security • Generally low rate of crime in Czech Republic • Main problem: Street crime –particularly pick-pocketing and occasional mugging • Violent crime (still relatively infrequent), are becoming more common in Prague • Don’t take open drinks at bars or clubs • Be careful while riding trains, trams or metro, where most crime occurs • Keep a copy of your passport in a safe place separate from the passport itself!!! Office for International Studies Taxi • No standard price for taxi services, but drivers are required to display their prices, usually on the door. • A reasonable price is CZK 25 per km. • A drive from both Hlavní nádraží (the Main Railway Station) and Grand bus station to Kounicova Halls of Residence should cost approximately CZK100. • Don’t use taxi in Prague!
