PFIRS’ Advantages • Security • Secure Servers • keeps unauthorized individuals from viewing information • Redundant System is continually backed up • No data is lost if your computer goes down • Able to track activity on SMPs via time stamp • Easy to Access Data from Anywhere • Just Log in and Go!

  5. Recent Developments • Redesigned User Interface • Increased Functionality • Easier to Use • Sort Active Burns By Agency • Front Map • Upload Multiple Burn Units from Spreadsheet • Automatic Email Notifications

System Test • Started September 2007 • Lake Tahoe Air Basin • Eleven Land Managers and Air Districts • Thirty People have used PFIRS during the test • Tester’s Feedback • Largely Positive • Instrumental in clarifying needs of districts and land managers • Gave the opportunity to work through undiscovered issues

  7. Next Steps (1 of 2) • ALM previously had PFIRS Steering Committee • Coordination with ALM will be vital as we consider • Further expansion of testing • In the same air districts • Into new air districts • Release of PFIRS later this year • Method and course of release
