The United Nations • The UN is created in 1945 • Peace keeping organization • International organization to protect members from aggression • General Assembly where every member can cast vote • Security Council--11 members, with 5 permanent: China, France, Russian Federation, the United Kingdom and the United States; and 10 non-permanent members elected by the GA
