  3. Fasset’s Strategy 2012 / 2013 Fasset Update October / November 2012 • Fasset focuses on transforming the profile of the sector through implementing Pivotal Programmes. These strategic goals align to the DHET’s. • Pivotal Programmes • Learnership Cash Grant (LCG) • Strategic Cash Grant (SCG) • Small Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMME) Grant • NSFAS Loan Repayment Grant (NLRG) • Development Projects • Transformation (Learners funded on Pivotal Programmes) • African learners • African learners with a disability

Fasset’s Strategy 2012 / 2013 Fasset Update October / November 2012 • Fasset is focusing on new relationships in order to extend the skills development reach in implementing a career pipeline approach. • Further Education Training (FET) Colleges • Universities • Addressing skills need in the public sector • Provincial footprint, focus on rural areas

  5. What’s New at Fasset? Fasset Update October / November 2012 • Fasset has launched some new and exciting initiatives: • NSFAS Loan Repayment Grant • Employed learner or an employer representative may apply • African learners will be relieved of the NSFAS financial burden • Internship Programme Accreditation • Internships that fall into the graduate work-based category • New Website • Improved navigation

Development Projects Fasset Update October / November 2012 • Designed to assist unemployed learners (NQF levels 4 – 8) and bridge the gap between theoretical learning and workplace experience • Fasset has approved 13 new projects for this year. • Details on each project can be found on the website: www.fasset.org.za • Currently conducting a Tracer study to evaluate the impact of the projects that have already completed. • Focus is moving more towards bridging programmes • Bridging Programmes for Access to Higher Education • Academic Programmes that Lead to Academic/Professional Body Qualifications and Designations • Bridging Programmes for Access to Employment

Career Guidance Fasset Update October / November 2012 • Fasset has an intensive National Career Guidance campaign in line with NSDS III and makes use of the following platforms: • Fasset Brand Ambassadors: currently running in 9 institutions (FETs and Universities) • Print and online advertising • Exhibitions • Print and digital motivational material • Social media • Partnerships
