  2. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF ADVERTISEMENTS ? • To give publicity to goods. • To make people aware about new deals and offers. • Promoting sales and services. • Property and vehicles sale • To let a portion • Matrimonial • Lost and found etc.

  3. WHAT IS AN ADVERTISEMENT ? It is a public notice or announcement ,especially one advertising goods or services in newspapers, magazines, on posters in broadcasts. It is a very potent tool for promoting sales or services.

  4. TYPES OF NEWSPAPER ADVERTISEMENTS There are two types : Classified advertisements Display advertisements

IMPORTANT POINTS TO KEEP IN MIND • Classified advertisements are usually very brief, written in a peculiar style. • They are called classified because they are grouped into categories or classes according to their subject matter. • Use of essential words , phrases and abbreviations. • Advertiser’s address including phone number, websites and e- mail etc. • Word limit : 50 words • Put in a box.
