  3. OMS TO OHS-Differences • Credits determine graduation • Class choices • F= failing=no credit=not graduating • 5 minutes between class • One floor • 500 students/per lunch and unlimited lunch options • Electives can have students from any grade

Course Choices • Know the courses and descriptions (they are on the website) • Make good course choices for electives • I will provide a 4 year plan during scheduling..feel free to get it off my website now • Doing nothing is a habit and you will want to move forward in a positive direction. Realize this in advance and plan to succeed at the High School. You can do it

MMC-Graduation Requirements • 4 years of Math-Math your Senior Year • 4 years of English • 3 years of Science (Biology & Chemistry) • 3 years of Social Studies (U.S., World and Civics) • 1 credit PE/Health (.5 health and .5 PE) • On-line experience • 2 credits of Foreign Language (Spanish) AT THE HIGH SCHOOL IF YOU ARE COLLEGE BOUND! • If you fail, plan on summer school or lose an elective the following year • 24 Credits needed for a diploma

  11. Advice • Form good study habits NOW • Math-do the homework and re-work the math problems. • You will need • Algebra One • Geometry • Algebra Two (Algebra 2A and Algebra 2B) • 4th year of Math (Pre-Calc, Statistics or other related math class) • From Seniors “Don’t slack off” 2X!!

  12. The Guarantee • YOU WILL PASS IF: • You do every assignment • Study at home • Have good attendance • Talk to your teacher if you get confused • You are in control and you get to determine if you pass and you can do it

  13. more information • PE can be satisfied with: • Band or 2 seasons of a sport BUT most people take PE anyways. It is a pre-requisite to other classes. Most students still take PE because what else would you take with health? There are limited choices. • What is a pre-requisite? • 60% or higher in Spanish and/or Algebra can earn you high school credit. You can enter High School with some credits on your transcript.

  14. credits • Each class at OHS earns .5 credit/semester or 1 credit for the year if you PASS • The class and credits are on your transcript which is a permanent record that follows you wherever you go for the rest of your life • Example • Be deliberate and make good course choices • Think of potential career goals when registering • Go with teacher recommendations and remember honors means extra work

Things to Look Forward to • Getting all of the requirements satisfied in the first 2 years • 11th and 12th grade offer more course choices • Blue and Gold Banquet-Awards Assembly • AP • Dual Enrollment • Shared Time/Baker/CCRESA Attempt to walk into college with some credit KEEP THE DOOR OPEN
