  4. “This is a public service reminder that the De Soto School District has an $11.5 million no-tax increase bond issue on the ballot tomorrow.  For more information concerning this no-tax increase bond issue go to our web site at www.desoto.k12.mo.us.  Thank you”

  5. We utilized a school wide “Alert Now” call to all parents both the night before the election and the day of the election. They also received this message via email. Today is Election Day. We encourage you to visit the polls and cast your ballot. Thank you very much.

Dear Parents, On Tuesday, November 3, 2009, we have the opportunity to vote on a NO-TAX INCREASE BOND ISSUE that will completely remove all mobile classrooms from our campuses district-wide and provide additional benefits for our students and our district. -Passage of this bond will create much needed classrooms at all campuses. -Passage of this bond will get air conditioning in the Vineland Elementary Gymnasium. -Passage of this bond will get a multipurpose gymnasium at Athena Elementary as we currently share a Gymnasium/Café with over 600 students. -Passage of this bond will renovate the Junior High Café and Library along with sealing off the back classrooms for safety. -Passage of this bond will pay off previous lease financings ($1,300,000) to help generate operating funds for the district. -The district can take advantage of the temporary very low interest Qualified School Construction Bonds (QSCB) from the federal government being offered as incentive. -This will provide better quality learning environments for all of our students. -The debt service is estimated to remain unchanged at $0.6365 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation of real and personal property.  It only extends current tax rate for 5 years. -Vineland Elementary, Athena Elementary, De Soto Junior High, and De Soto High School will receive benefits from this NO-TAX INCREASE BOND ISSUE.
