  1. Translate the following sentences I love to eat chicken with rice. We should lift weights every Wednesday. I prefer onions because (porque) they are tasty.

  2. Reminders • Ser is NOT a regular verb • This means that you can’t simply chop of the –er and add an ending. (Yo soy, Túeres, Ella es, Nosotrossomos, Vosotrossois, Ustedes son) • Ser- means to be • Used when describing people and things • Ex: Nosotrossomosestudiosos. • Las clases de arte son divertidas.

  3. Determining which form to use • Identify the subject • Don’t leave anybody out! Examples • Enrique yyo _______ graciosos. • Las clases ________ aburridas.

  4. Adjectives • Describe nouns • Must agree with the noun that they describe in: • Number (singular/plural) • Gender (masculine/feminine) Nosotras ≠ gracioso Nosotras = graciosas • Do NOT try to conjugate them like verbs

  5. General rules of adjectives • If the adjective ends in an “e”, it will not change even if the subject is feminine. -Ex: Susana es horrible. • If the adjective ends in a vowel, add an “s” to make it plural. • Carlos y Juan son perezosos. • If the adjective ends in a consonant, add an “es” to make it plural. • Ustedes son trabajadores. • Reminder: deportista is both masculine and feminine. • Ex: Pedro esdeportista.

  6. Corrections • Pick 3 sentences • Write the complete subject • Write the correct form of ser • Write whether the subject is masculine/feminine, singular/plural and change your adjective accordingly
