  1. Senior English 11/5/12 • Why should we respect tradition? What sort of traditions do you think we should pay attention to? • What do you call a cow that doesn’t give milk? • Bastinado – to torture by beating on the soles of the feet with a stick. Goals – Start thinking of a big idea that you find the most interesting from Brave New World. Homework – none.

  2. Senior English 11/6/12 • Is there any value to books and reading? How about education? Are they as important to our society as teachers suggest? How could this relate to Brave New World? • What is the frogs’ favorite game? • Coruscate – to give off glitter or sparkles of light; to be brilliantly witty. Goals – Get caught up on reading. BNW Reading Comprehension Ch. 14-16 tomorrow Homework – Don’t forget to study for Vocabulary Final on Friday.

  3. Senior English 11/7/12 • Huxley says in his foreword that Brave New World isn't about science in itself, but instead about the way that science affects people. What's the difference? How does this dilemma play out in the novel? • What has three teeth and sixty feet? • Eellogofusciouhipoppokunurious – very good, very fine. Goals – Introduce the Brave New World Project and begin work on it. Homework – Write briefly about how science affects you is it positive or negative?.

  4. Senior English 11/8/12 • In general, do your feel our world is heading in a positive or negative direction? Why? Are any of your feelings based upon science or economics? • He’s such a good salesman that if you were shipwrecked and treading water, he could sell you an anvil. • Jeeter – an ill-mannered slob. Goals – Work on Brave New World divide the work and responsibilities to make your team successful. Homework – Do you think businesses have too much power or influence in our country today?

Senior English 11/9/12 • Five minutes to study for vocabulary final. • Why did the lollipop cross the road? • Adoxography – writing cleverly on a trivial subject Goals – Successfully complete vocabulary final. Continue to work on BNW project. Homework – Try to work on your project, the deadline is short. I will be in here all day on Tuesday and Wednesday if you want access to computers.
