Ionospheric disturbance monitoring • VTEC Quartiles ① calculation of the VTEC (Vertical TEC) using precise model; ② calculation the real-time VTEC and VTEC quartiles of current epoch; ③ comparison between real-time VTEC and VTEC quartiles to check for ionospheric disturbances. Lushan (Sichuan Province) MS7.0 earthquake on April 20,2013 Estimated VTEC less than L2 quartile: disturbance Zhang X H 2013; Xie Yibing et al. 2014 7
