  4. History 1836 The Schneider brothers took over the Creusot foundries. Two years later, they created Schneider & Cie. 1891 Already an armament specialist, they launched themselves into the electricity market. Known as Schneider Group. 1st half of the 20 century turned from armaments to construction, iron and steel works and electricity. 2nd half of the 20 century was focused on the electrical industry through acquisitions. Renamed Schneider Electric. Early 21st century focus was on organic growth and acquisitions and a movement toward energy management.
