  5. Climate Protection Programme • Budget: 4,5 Mio. € 2001 to 2005 • Cooperation on capacity building • Mitigation of GHG emissions • CDM • Adaptation • Supra regional activities(e.g. methodological issues on CDM and adaptation) • Overriding Goal: Mainstreaming of CC issues into German ODA 5

  6. Vulnerable Sectors • Water resources • Agriculture and food supply • Terrestrial ecosystems • Coastal zones and marine ecosystems • Human settlements • Health • Insurance and finance • Observe: Regional and subregional variability of vulnerability 6

Identification of Areas for Intervention on Adaptation • Take into account: • COP decisions, NAPA, PRSP, MEA etc. • Sensitising partners in developing countries and German dev. assistance • Information, relevance, win-win, overlap • Screening of relevant areasto prioritise regions and sectors 7

  8. Criteria for project and partner selection Development of pilot projects with strong stakeholder participation Implementation of adaptation activities as part of German ODA projects Pilot Projects • Publicise project results widely 8

  9. Conclusions • CaPP ready to support adaptation to climate change • The path: • Mainstreaming the issue in German ODA • Cooperate and learn internationally 10
