Strategic International Cooperative Program (SICP) Overview • Based on agreements between the governments of both countries • MEXT decides which country and research field to cooperate • JST Supports expenses of joint research projects (small-scale), personnel exchanges (travel), holding of meetings, etc • Budget for Japanese side: about 5 million JPY (about 30,000EUR) / project / year (for 3 years) Schematic

Strategic International Cooperative Program (SICP) Objectives To promote international exchanges between researchers on specific research areas by • implementing cooperative researches of relatively small-scale, • personnel exchanges, i.e., invitations and dispatches, and • holding meetings such as symposiums and workshops. Schema 1) JST cooperates with appropriate funding agency of counterpart country for assisting internationally cooperative research activities. 2) JST and counterpart agency call for proposals separately in each country and select projects jointly. 3) JST funds Japanese researchers and counterpart agency does its ones.
