Plebe Services • Advising • Provide guidance about preregistration, registration, academic performance and major selection • Early Intervention • Provide learning skills instruction, individual advising and mentoring • Academic Success Track Course • Combined curriculum of Chemistry & Study Skills

  4. Learning Skills • Individual and small group format • Time Management • Goal Setting • Reading Improvement • Note-taking • Test-taking • Stress Management • Memory Enhancement • Problem Solving

  5. Extra Help Classes • Extra-help classes in STEM Courses • Providing academic support for courses in mathematics, chemistry, physics and engineering. • One hour meeting per week • Open to selected students & others on a space available basis

  6. Midshipmen Group Study Program (MGSP) • Led by upperclass midshipmen • Held during study hours • Open to all midshipmen • MGSP Leaders trained by the Academic Center • Leaders work closely with faculty

  7. Midshipmen Group Study Program (MGSP) • Peer Tutoring support available for: • Chemistry • Mathematics • Mechanical Engineering • Physics • Political Science • Language Studies • Seamanship and Navigation • Aerospace Engineering • Systems Engineering.

  8. Professional Tutoring • Services Provided • Individual & small group tutoring by appointment • Offered evenings & weekends • Tutors available for: Mathematics Spanish Chemistry Arabic Physics Engineering • Tutors have at least a Master’s Degree

AY 2013 Goals • Establish new facilities in Levy Center • Increase awareness of services • Midshipmen • Faculty • Increase availability, tracking usage • Evening Extra Help classes (2000-2200 MWF) • Acquiring Starfish logging and data tracking • Increase focus on STEM • Added STEM faculty and more STEM Extra Help
