  1. Region D By Lauren Dawson

  2. Region D includes: Bowie, Camp, Cass, Delta, Franklin, Gregg, Harrison, Hopkins, Hunt, Lamar, Marion, Morris, Rains, Red River, Smith, Titus, Upshur, Van Zandt, and Wood.

  3. Water Resources • Major aquifers in Region d are Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer in the central and southern part of the region and the Trinity Aquifer in the north

  4. Population Concerns • Like many areas in the world, section d’s population is experiencing rapid growth; especially Hunt and Gregg county, exceeding their projected estimate for 2010 already. This kind of growth ups the anti on what kind of money and water is needed in their region plan as municipal use also increases.

  5. Industry • Region d ‘s main resource of economic stability is crops, cattle and poultry production. • In the eastern area of region d timber, oil, gas and mining are important industries. • In the western area many people are employed by the Dallas-Fort worth Metropolitan area.

  6. Recent Manufacturing • Due to the recent construction of the Cobisa Steam Electric Plant Region d also has to re-evaluate how they use their water so they have enough to supply to the plant and to the region.

  7. Future Plans • In the future the people of section d plan to put restrictions on their municipal use and find more efficient ways to find and store water. Region D has long since supported Region C, especially Dallas-Fort worth. But in Dallas’ recent attempt to build an reservoir to support their growing population and irresponsible use of water the people of Region D can’t allow this to happen to protect their environment and species and have denied this as a possible resource for Dallas.
