  1. ECE 477 Digital Systems Senior Design Project  Spring 2010 A.F.C.I. / Alumoline Fuel Cell Instrumentation A.F.C.I. is an instrumentation and analysis system for a hydrogen-powered golf cart. Its primary goal is to aid in the research of a very promising hydrogen-fuel technology being developed at Purdue University. It can track various properties of the fuel system in real time interactively through an LCD touchscreen. Data can also be logged to an SD card for later analysis. Printed Circuit Board Layout Water tank & Hydrogen Reactor Touchscreen & User Interface Left to Right: Ronny Wijaya, Naman Chopra, Darin Tanaka, Suan-Aik Yeo Project-Specific Success Criteria • An ability to receive and correctly record values from various sensors. • An ability to give appropriate warnings and troubleshooting instructions if a sensor detects something wrong. • An ability to store data on external memory. • An ability to use a touch screen to send commands to the microcontroller to control the logging of data and to provide a user configurable display for the logging of data from multiple sensors. • An ability for the microcontroller to receive and execute commands to remotely enable, disable and control the sampling rate of multiple sensors. Notable Components • Freescale 9S12C32 Microcontroller. • Advantech PCM-9361 Intel Atom embedded motherboard • Xenarc XE8TV-A 8” touchscreen Digijock(ette)-Strength Digital System DesignTM
