  2. Outline • Which services do we have today • LHC civil engineering sites in the underground • Which services will we loose • Rerouting of services via the surface • General services restoration planning • Which services do we need at this time???

  3. Which services do we have today • FDDI-Ethernet • surface • underground • TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) • surface • underground • Optical Fibre Network • surface • underground

  4. LHC civil engineering sitesin the underground

  5. Which services will we looseduring LHC construction Basically all of the services in the underground

  6. Rerouting of services via the surface • Optical fibres to P5 and P7 • SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) installations at PCR, P5 and P7 • FDDI to P5 and P7 connected via the surface optical fibres • Video connections via the same fibres

  7. General services restoration planning

  8. Which services do we need at this time??? • Ethernet connections, but which technology? • ATM connections? • SDH connections for point to point links and transport of IP traffic? • FAT optical fibre cables all around the tunnel? • Secure power supply! (220Vac/-48Vdc)

  9. Concluding remark
