  2. STORY OF SIMON • For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity. -Acts 8:23 • Bitterness is an ungodly and unhappy mental state characterized by resentment. • Opposite of Gratefulness.

  3. Serious Bitterness Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; -Hebrews 12:14-15 Bitterness springs up gradually.

  4. What Causes Bitterness • Seeking to control the circumstances of your own life. • O LORD, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.Jeremiah 10:23 • God designed Man to have the same relationship with Him as a Child to a Parent.

  6. Misaligned Priorities seek ye first the kingdom of God,and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Mt. 6:31-33

  7. How We Become Bitter Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: Eph 4:31

  8. How We Become BitterEph 4:31 Ungodly & unhappy state of mind Bitterness Intense consuming anger Wrath Anger combined with desire for revenge Anger Louder and more intense complaining Clamor Complaining usually resulting from an obsession Evil Speaking

  9. Bitterness leads to: • A Weaker Relationship with God. • Possibly causing you to fail of God’s Grace. Heb. 12:15 • A less fulfilling life.

  10. Solution Pray for God’s direction in your life. Live to please others and God more than self. Examine and adjust your priorities.
