  2. The IB MYP provides a curriculum of rigorous accelerated academic challenges that encourages students to understand the connections between traditional subjects and the real world and become critical and reflective thinkers.

  3. Curriculum Framework All students takes classes in 8 subject areas Language A - English Language B – World Language Spanish, German or French The Arts- Visual or Performing Humanities – Social Studies Mathematics Physical Education Science Technology

  6. Assessment: How do we assess student learning in the MYP? • Involves a range of task types • Assessment of knowledge, concepts, skills and attitudes • Criterion referenced • Internally assessed (by teachers) • Externally moderated for global standardization

  8. The Personal Project The personal project is a significant body of work produced beginning in grade 9 and culminating the spring of grade 10. The personal project allows students to work on a project that has special meaning to them – something they have a passion to do!

The personal project may take may forms For example: An original work of art A written piece of work on a special topic A piece of literary fiction (creative writing) An original science experiment An invention or specially designed object or system An entrepreneurial business or project Realistic Project: A student who has studied the Piano for a number of years decides to write and interpret a musical score for parts of a school play. Unrealistic project: A student decides to learn to play the piano.

Every student is paired with a mentor teacher. • The mentor teacher • makes sure the student understands the guidelines and assessment criteria. • guides the student on how to complete the project successfully. • provides positive, constructive feedback • Ensures that the project is authentic and entirely the student’s own work.

  12. MYP Students complete a minimum of 15 hours of community service yearly. Visit nursing homes Relay For Life Donations to Child Crisis Nursery
