  4. LEA Application – General Information • Demographics • Needs Assessment • Identify strengths and weaknesses • Annual Goals for three years • Plan for Responding to Data • Justification for Intervention • Process for selecting and evaluating providers

  5. LEA Application • Describe any current implementation of models • Describe implementation planned during the funded years (2010 – 2013) • Who will be the person responsible for making sure these activities take place? (HPSI/SIG Liaison) • What is your schedule/timeline for implementation?

  8. LEA Application • The Secretary issues the following requirements with respect to the allocation and use of School Improvement Grants. • Persistently lowest-achieving schools • Four school intervention models • Increased learning time • Student growth

School Improvement Grants 1003(g) • Increased learning time • Using a longer school day, week, or year • Increasing instructional time in core academic subjects • Offering instruction in other subjects and enrichment activities • Requiring teachers to collaborate, plan, and engage in professional development within and across grades and subjects

School Improvement Grants 1003(g) • Student Growth • Change in achievement for an individual student between two or more points in time • Student growth data must be based on a student’s score on the State’s assessment under 1111 (b) (3) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act • Include other measures that are rigorous and comparable across classrooms

  11. Evaluation Process • Non-LDE/LEA Evaluators • Applications reviewed three times • Ranked according to overall score

  13. School Improvement Grants 1003(g) • Deadlines • April 9, 2010 – LEA SIG applications due to the LDE • Late April 2010 – response and allocations • May 21, 2010 – MOUs due to the LDE
