Cortez • Cortez pretended to friend the Aztecs. • The Spaniards were amazed by the size of the Aztec capitol. • The people dressed very in great finery with gold and jewels and Cortez and his men were giving room in a beautiful palace. • Later When the empire visited the Spanish took him as prisoner. • Cortez was out numbered so he could not leave any stayed for months. • Cortez killed there leader Montezuma by planning a giant attack on the Aztecs. • By the middle of 1521, after 3 years of fighting, the Spanish controlled all of Mexico.
