  2. Spices have connection with Arabia throughout its history. Throughout the whole of Middle East, spices were appreciated for its fragrances as well as other medicinal properties. Spices were also used to enhance the flavor of food. In the fifth century BC, Herodotus “the father of history” mentioned that the whole country of Arabia was scented with the fragrances of different spices and it smelled very sweet. Arabian spices like cardamom, cinnamon, cumin, ginger, nutmeg was exported to the Roman Empire for centuries.
