The Content Discovery & Retrieval IPT Purpose • The Joint IC/DoD Content Discovery & Retrieval (CDR) Integrated Project Team (IPT) has been tasked to: • Develop, • Publish, and • Manage A set of architecturally-driven standards and specifications to enhance content discovery and retrieval of IC and DoD data assets.

Focus of CDR IPT IC Data Standards A Hierarchy of Data Needs Scope Step 4: “Use the Connections” Facts Utilization Business/Mission Function Specific Facts Discovery And Integration Step 3: “Connect the dots” Enable all Business/ Mission Functions Step 2: “Find the dots” Data Discovery And Access Step 1: “Get the dots” Data Capture and Retention Collection/Tasking Step 0: “Request the dots”

  4. Status to date • Completed work on functional requirements • Decomposed those requirements and mapped them to capabilities • (Using the IC’s Joint Architecture Reference Model as a baseline) • Completed work on the reference architecture • Mapped requirements to reference architecture • Almost completed with specification framework • Target completion date is 14 Jan 2010

  5. Next Steps • Draft technical specifications for: • Search: • SOAP • REST • OGC • Retrieve • Content Collection • Aggregator/Broker • Execute a proof of concept for the specifications • Start the specification coordination and approval process

  6. Later Steps • Start an iteration to cover areas not currently included in the specification • e.g. Search techniques which use something other SOAP, REST or OGC
