  5. #4. What are friends with benefits? • Experimenting with sex acts without any emotional / sexual attachment… • A practice session with / on a friend • Compared to a golfer going to the driving range – to go work on your game – to see what works for you and practice…

  6. #5. According to those interviewed what is 1st, 2nd, and 3rd base? • First Base: KISSING • Second Base: MAKING – OUT • Third Base: ORAL SEX

  7. #6. Is oral sex, sex? Why or why not? • 77% of kids said oral sex is sex… • Some said no – as it is not intercourse nor is it as intimate.

  8. #7. According to the NBC and People Magazine poll, • Of 1,000 kids – ages 13 – 16, what percentage of 13-14 year olds were sexually active? (beyond kissing) • 14%

  15. #14. WHY ABSTINENCE? • WHAT REASONS DID TEENS GIVE FOR MAKING THIS CHOICE / LIFESTYLE DECISION? • NOT EMOTIONALLY MATURE • DIDN’T WANT TO REPEAT PARENTS’ MISTAKE • DEVOUT RELIGIOUS BELIEFS: VIRGINITY A GIFT TO SPOUSE • NO STDs • NO UNWANTED PREGNANCY!

What does it say about American society – its values, families, young people, culture regarding views on sex, dating, marriage, and family? • GREAT INTERGENERATIONAL CONFLICT REGARDING SEX. • MIXED SIGNALS FROM THE MEDIA & FAMILY. • SEX SEEMS TO BE VIEWED AS MORE CASUAL AND LESS SACRED AS EARLIER GENERATIONS HAD LEARNED.
