Introduction Introduction TaskProcessLessonEvaluation • You have been hired by the President of the United States to prepare a brochure of important locations in America!!!!! • The brochure will be displayed in numerous July the 4th ceremonies. • Soon you will begin on a journey to help the President.

Task Introduction TaskProcessLessonEvaluation • Your task is to create a brochure describing various important locations in the United States. • Each location in your brochure will include an illustration you create and at least a one paragraph summary below. • You will navigate through some websites where you will collect information for your brochure:

  4. Example Introduction TaskProcessLessonEvaluation • Summary: The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspensionbridge spanning the Golden Gate, the opening into the San Francisco Bay from the Pacific Ocean. It connects the city of San Francisco on the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula to Marin County as part of US Highway 101 and California State Highway 1.The Golden Gate Bridge was the largest suspension bridge in the world when it was completed in 1937 and has become an internationally recognized symbol of San Francisco and the United States. It is currently the second longest suspension bridge in the United States after the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge in New York City. • Golden State Bridge( You will draw your illustration)

  5. Process Introduction TaskProcessLessonEvaluation • Students will be placed in groups of 4. • Groups, you must decide which member will take what role. The roles are as follows: a. Group facilitator: moderates discussions, keeps the group on task, assures work is done by all, and makes sure all have opportunity to participate and learn. b. Timekeeper: monitors time and moves group along so that they complete the task in the available time, keeps area clean, assumes role of any missing group member if there is no wildcard member. c. Recorder: takes notes of the group's discussion and prepares a written conclusion. d. Research-Runner: gets needed materials and is the liaison between groups and between their group and the instructor. • Make sure your Research Runner picks up the worksheet before you start the lesson. • After you have decided your roles, you will click on the Lesson tab. • You will read the information on the slides and follow along.

As you go through the lesson, make sure you complete your lesson worksheet!You will have to repeat the lesson if you don’t complete the worksheet the first time. 7. After you complete the lesson, you will make a brochure of the important locations in the United States. 8. All members must contribute to the making of the brochure! 9. For each location you must include an illustration of the location and a 1 paragraph summary of why this location is important. 10. Your group will only choose five locationsof your choice and present them to the class. 11. You will complete a peer evaluation in which you tell me how well your team members did.

People discuss the subject at hand. 3. Everyone's ideas and suggestions are welcomed. 4. Everyone has a chance to state his or her views. 5. The group uses its agenda as a guide for discussion. 6. One or two members are appointed to summarize the discussion and to see that everyone has had a chance to speak. 7. Members know and use problem-solving steps. 8.   9. Grand Canyon Introduction TaskProcessLessonEvaluation The Grand Canyon Skywalk protrudes 20 meters (65 feet) beyond the edge of the canyon. The walls and floor are built from glass 10.2 cm (4 inches) thick. The Skywalk is capable of holding 70 tons of weight (the equivalent of 800 people weighing 80 kg ( 175 lbs.) each), however the permitted capacity is limited to 120 persons. Visitors are provided with shoe covers to protect them from slipping and to prevent the glass floor from being scratched. Directions: Write a one paragraph on your worksheet as a group on whether you would walk on the Grand Canyon Skywalk . State why or why not. If there is a tie you need to write both views.
