Project Ahana Phase II : Objectives • To improve HIV testing among pregnant women and effective reporting system both Public in Private sector • To ensure effective linkages and retention to ART treatment to HIV positive pregnant women (PPW) and their children through Intensified Case Finding (ICF) approach • To provide comprehensive care and support services to HIV positive pregnant women and their families through community based outreach activities

Plan India’s Holistic approach towards achieving EMTCT EMTCT framework • Increase HIV testing among pregnant women to 90% • Increase HIV testing among spouses of positive pregnant women to 90% • Increase the proportion of HIV-positive pregnant women on ART to 95% • Increase the proportion of HIV- exposed infants who completed their first EID within two months of birth to 95%. Strengthening Supply side framework • Plan India’s Supply Chain Management component GFATM grant • HIV test Kit and ARV drugs supply to all ICTCs and ART centres of the country Expanding and Strengthening of Service provision • TISS component of Capacity Building • 9000 ICTC, STI and ART counsellors trained • 30,000 ANMs across 15,000 PHC trained

Key Milestones achieved till December, 18 • Sub recipient partners selected and all the recruitments completed before March, 19 • Induction training was carried out in March, 19 and one refresher training carried out in the month of December, 19 • Strong linkages established with NHM and NACO towards field implementation at national level as well with state health societies and SACS at the state level • Coordination mechanism established with sector partners i.e. Svetana (SAATHII) and Vihaan (India HIV/AIDS Alliance) • Sensitization meeting with public and private sector stakeholders carried out at state and district level • Coordination and linkages established with FOGSI chapters at national and state level • Facilitating community level testing through constant follow up with district health administration • Constant follow up and advocacy for uninterrupted drugs and consumables supply • Supporting state NHM chapters in preparations of PIP to ensure the EMTCT interests are addressed • Follow up of LFYU and Missed cases of HIV positive pregnant women and babies • Mapping- Assessment- Engagement- Reporting of Private sector facilities • Partnering with NACO and NIE in planning and execution of EMTCT data validation exercise at the state

Performance update till December, 18 • 74% of spouses of HIV positive pregnant women received HIV testing during the reporting period • 95% of HIV positive pregnant women are linked to ART 53% HIV • 53% exposed babies received EID testing within 2 months • 46% of pregnant women received HIV testing against estimated pregnancies* • 205 facilities have been made functional as HIV testing facilities *SIMS data not updated

Objectives 12,000 health facilities (Primary Health Centres) delivering HIV & Syphilis testing services to pregnant women as part of the ANC package of services 30,000 ANMs all over India covering 36 states and Union Territories, hands on trained on how to do HIV and Syphilis test 9000 counsellors covering 3 states and Union territories (ICTC/STI/ART). on the revised HCTS guideline Goals Strengthen Country’s commitment towards Elimination of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV and Syphilis Specific Goals Facilitate saturation of all health facilities with HIV and Syphilis testing Facilitate the roll out of the new HIV Counselling and Testing Services (HCTS) Guidelines

Milestones achieved till December 2018 • The project was scheduled to be rolled out from January 2018, however the MoU NACO – Plan India was signed in May 2018 end • Plan India – TISS agreement signed in June 2018 • June to December 2018 • TISS HQ was on board • Support letter from NHM to all state MD NHM for roll out of ANM Trg • Support letter from NACO to all SACS • Finalization of the ANM training curriculum module • Preparation of Training Aids • Recruitment of RTU staff • ToT of RTU staff (October) • ANM training rolled out (November 2018). Till December 2018, 343 ANMs have been trained and 197 facilities have been made functional
