Itinerary • Depart ATL: 8:40AM, MAY 9, Delta 1555 • Beijing: May 10-13 (3 nights and 3 days) Take a night train to Yangzhou • Yangzhou: May 14-20 (6 nights and 7 days) Bus from Yangzhou to Shanghai (3-4 hrs) • Shanghai: May 21-25 (5 nights and 4.5 days) • Depart Pudong Airport (PVG): 10:00AM, 25MAY, Delta 18 • Arriving at ATL, 3:50PM, May 25, Atlanta

  4. Airline tickets • You have received the e-ticket in your mail box. • Bring a copy of this ticket with you to the airport. The same ticket will be used when we come back on May 25.

  5. Passport and Visa Application • You can easily handle the section 1 (information about yourself). •  Section 2: • Choose "Tourism" in section 2.1. • Choose "Multiple-entry valid for 12 months" in section 2.2 if you have American passport. Otherwise, please choose “Single entry valid for 3 months”. • Write down "2010-05-08” in section 2.3. • Write down "30 days" in section 2.4. • Write down "Beijing, Yangzhou, and Shanghai" in section 2.5. • Leave section 2.6 blank.   • You can handle section 3 and 4.1-4.6.   • Leave 4.7-4.10 blank.   • Finally, attach a passport type of color photo and sign the form.

  6. Issues related to Visa • Send your visa application and passport to Jun Ji by March 31 (Free) • If I do not have them by April March 31, you need to send them directly to Imperial Pacific Travel. Pay extra fees to the agency: by April 8 --- $25 by April 15 --- $75 (for overnight service)

  7. Departure at 8:40am on May 9 • Meet at the airport • Arrive at the airport at 6:10AM on May 9 • Check in your luggage • Wait for other members in the hall • Please bring your passport, airline ticket, and money

  8. Please be on time!!! If you are late, we will not wait for you. We will go inside around 6:20am. Please call me

  9. Carry-on bag • Not exceed 45 inches (length+width+height), or 115 cm. • Fit easily in our SizeCheck® unit (approximately 22"x14"x9", or 56x36x23 cm). • Fit in an overhead bin or underneath the seat in front of you. • If your carry-on bag doesn't meet these size restrictions it must be checked, and all checked baggage rules will apply.

  10. Checked Baggage • You can check two bags that meet the size and weight limitations at no extra charge. -- Weigh 50 pounds (23 kg) or less. -- Not exceed 62 inches (157 cm) when you total length+width+height. Remark: The cabin of the train is small. No room for two baggage.

  11. The course - SA 4490 • Three credit hours • Equivalent to MATH 4490 • It may be used to replace a course in your degree program.

  12. Course requirements Basic requirements for a grade of C • Reading: a few online articles • Participate in group photos (with 90% of us in the photo) --- at least five group photos • 15-minute presentation about Georgia Standard on Math Education in Yangzhou U • Following the KSU Study Abroad Code of Conduct • Write a two-page paper about China including two photos (A requirement by KSU Confucius Institute for $400) Due date: June 7, 2010

Course requirementsfor a grade of B or A • In more group photos (say 3 in Beijing, 3 in Yangzhou, and 3 in Shanghai) • Participate in most group activities • Not keep any one not in the delegation in your room after 11:30pm • Project: a comparative study of ….. (5-10 pages). Due date: June 21, 2010

  17. Comments on the projects • You choose a topic • A general subject: statistics education, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, computer education, biology, etc. • A specific topic in mathematics: solving quadratic equations, solving trigonometric equations, the introduction of logarithm, etc.
