  2. INTRODUCTION • China is a very large country and has a lot of different geography. It has many Rivers, Deserts and Mountains.

  3. RIVERS China has two major rivers. They are the “Yangtze river” and the “Yellow River”. Each has different characteristics. The Yangtze river is the third longest river in the world, it is about 4000 miles long. The Yangtze’s river banks are high so they keep homes from flooding. Chinas second largest river is the Yellow river. It is 3000 miles long. The banks are low for the Yellow River. Over time people learned the techniques to stop the river from flooding.

  4. DESERTS The north west of China has a lot of deserts. The Gobi desert is one of dirtiest deserts in the world. The Gobi desert is the fifth largest desert’s in the world. The Gobi desert gets seven inches of rain each year. The Takla Makan desert is a big desert. It is the second biggest desert in the world.

  5. MOUNTAINS The largest mountain range in China is The Himalayan mountains. They run along the border to the south. In ancient times these mountains helped to protect the early chines people from invasion. Mount Everest, the largest mountain in the world, is located in the Himalayas.
