  1. How to use jing Jennifer Otani APLING 678 Dr. Kiss – Summer 2011

  2. Getting Started Step 1: download application

  3. Getting Started Step 2: Launch the program and capture your first image! Once the program is launched you’ll notice a little yellow sun located at the top of your desktop. Settings Capture History

  4. Getting Started Screencast.com You’ll also be opening a Screencast account to house all your photos. This is a private account, so only you can see your captured images.

  5. Getting Started How to capture an image: First you have to click on the “capture” pod on the sun. Then you’ll see the crosshairs and you can begin highlighting the area you’d like to select.

  6. Getting Started Then you have several options. You can label your capture, choose how you’d like to share it, or simply copy and paste it directly into another document as I did below:

  7. Getting Started The tools are highlighted in the captured image on the right. You can add arrows, add text, outline an area, highlight (as I used on the tools), and change the text color. When you’re finished making your changes just choose ‘share’ – which copies the link and uploads to screencast so you can paste the link in another text; ‘save’ – which saves to your computer, or‘copy’.

  8. Getting Started Jing also has the ability to record up to 5 minutes of video. Just follow the same process but choose the video pod instead of image. You can also capture an image and then use that captured image to create a video, which is great if you’d like to create a short informational video. I recommend trying out the application and exploring on your own time. Those of you who are more familiar with this sort of application may be able to apply it in other ways. Happy Jinging!
