Aims of the Earth System Science Degree

  • Our Mission for ESS students:

  • Equip graduates with a range of scientific and related skills to understand our natural environment.

  • Provide an in-depth appreciation of the complex interactions between the atmosphere, oceans, solid earth and biosphere.

  • Teach the human, social and economic factors affecting the environment, in the past, present and future.

  • Students will graduate with:

  • A range of technical, scientific and practical skills required to monitor and investigate the environment.

  • Developed scientific and technical communication skills, with particular emphasis on the contemporary environmental agenda.
