  12. Un-Healthy Food vs. Healthy Food By AriellaDeCarolis-Matta People have diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease, and strokes. A contributing factor to these conditions is all kinds of junk food eaten around the world, even here. On the back of a bag or a packet of bad food is a list of calories, fats, sugar, and other ingredients you might not even know. I want to prove that junk food can be harmful, fatty, and can risk your life and start to switch to healthy choices that are almost the same but healthier and can save your life. The fast food restaurants are the places that have the fattiest foods that can be un-healthy or sometimes even gross to people. The reason they are called fast food because frying is a very fast way of making food is also high in fat because of oil. Although they may taste good, fried and processed foods can actually harmful to our bodies. French fries and fried Oreos (yum!) are tempting. But if you look at the levels of fat, saturated fat, and sugar, they can take a toll on one’s body. Too much fat, sugar, and especially saturated fat can contribute to high cholesterol, diabetes, heart attack, stroke, and even death.

  13. There are alternatives to fatty, greasy, and sugary foods. For examples, instead of fried French fries, try baked sweet potatoes- cut into French fries strips. Also instead of potato chip or other chips, switch to Kale chips, Kale might be greens but if you roast it in the oven for 20 minutes, it turns into crispy Kale chips. Also be careful of called healthy food. Yoplait yogurt can be loaded with more sugar than what is recommended in the daily allowance. Instead, try plain non- fat yogurt and add fruit as berries and granola. For a savory treat, try tomatoes, scallions add carrots. Try shopping at the local green market or farmers market. The merchants are farmers who bring food directly from their farms. Their products are fresh. Experiment! Try a different fruit or vegetable each week. Who knew that eggplant, zucchini, mango, and papaya could be better than jelly beans or beef jerky.
