  1. PERSUASIVE WRITING: SENTENCE STRUCTURE SENTENCE FLUENCY is one of the 6 Traits of writing we use to become better writers. When you consider sentence fluency, you are considering the overall rhythm and flow of your writing and how it sounds to your reader.

  2. A simple sentencehas the most basic elements that make it a sentence: a subject, a verb, and a complete thought. It can stand alone. • The Wiz was a movie made in 1978. A compound sentencerefers to a sentence made up of two independent clauses (or complete sentences) connected to one another with a coordinating conjunction. • The Wiz was a movie made in 1978 and it starred Diana Ross. A complex sentenceis made up of an independent clause and one or more dependent clauses connected to it. A dependent clause is similar to an independent clause, or complete sentence, but it does not make sense on its own.  • Although The Wiz starred Diana Ross, Michael Jackson stole the show in his role as the scarecrow. A compound-complex sentence is made from two independent clauses and one or more dependent clauses. • An adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz premiered in 1978 and it starred Diana Ross and Michael Jackson.
