  7. Summer ScheduleJune through August • Monday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. • Tuesday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. • Wednesday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. • Thursday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. • Friday 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Requirements for Registration • Fill out intake form and complete assessments • Students under age 18: • Drop slip from former school/Parent consent • Just parental consent if home schooled • Picture identification for GED students • Examples include driver’s license, state identification card, tribal identification, military identification

  9. So I’m enrolled, now what? • Attend an orientation session • Take the assessments • Make an appointment to go over results • Make a study plan based on your goals

Classes Offered • Basic math • Fractions, Decimals, Percents • Algebra • Geometry • COMPASS Prep • English/GED Essay • Math 010 – College Prep • English 097 – College Prep • Reading 096 – College Prep • GED Prep (Reading, Social Studies, and Science) • English as a Second Language All for FREE!!!

  11. Student Expectations • Attend class regularly and participate • Let instructor know when you cannot attend by phone 208.792.2238 or e-mail • Make progress toward meeting your goals • Take assessments to measure progress – 60 hours of study time

  12. Attendance Policy • Attend every class, be on time, and be prepared to work • Sign in for class with the instructor • Too many missed classes may result in being dropped from the class • Inform your instructor if you will be absent or need to change your study plan We are here to help you!

Miscellaneous Notes • Parking • Streets have 3 hour time limits • Public parking lots on D Street or Brackenbury Square • Smoke 25 ft away from building entrances • Restrooms – located at the end of the hallway on the right • Vending machines & water – down the hallway • Turn off cell phones in class • All materials are provided by the ALC

Center – individual, educational and career counseling, employment workshops, assessments, advising for college, COMPASS testing (college placement exam) Career & Advising Services – Main floor Reid Centennial Hall New Student Recruitment – Main floor RCH college entrance process, admission, and registration Support Services on Campus

  15. GED Testing Battery Students can obtain an Idaho High School Equivalency Certificate by passing a government test after they have completed the GED battery.

GED Testing Information • Thursday mornings or by appointment only • Pre-register & pre-pay by noon Wednesday • Retakes allowed 3 times a calendar year • Test is changing January of 2014 • You have to be done by the end of 2013!!!! ……..or start all over in 2014  • Cost • $100 ($20 each test) • retakes $25 for each test • GED testing here at the center • Valid picture identification required & arrive early

  17. GED Scoring • 410 is a passing score on an individual test • 800 is a perfect score • An overall average of 450 is needed to pass • Most colleges require an average of 500 • Receiving Scores • Test scores are available online with an access code or the following Monday in the office • Scores are mailed or given to you in person We cannot release scores over the phone

  18. GED Graduation • Ceremony each year for our graduates • Families and friends are welcome • Ceremony held in the LCSC Activity Center with reception following Friday, May 3, 2013

  19. COMPASS • Reading, Math, and English placement • $15 ($5 for each test) • They are not a timed test & do not have to be taken all at once. • Retakes • Math allowed twice a year • Referral from Adult Learning Center • Bridge Classes
