Clothing • The Cherokee tribe • Men; leggings and breechcloth • Woman; wrap around skirts, poncho-style blouses made of deerskin • All; long braided; beaded jackets ,cotton blouses, and full skirts decorated with ribbon, feathers, and turbans • The Natchez tribe • Men wore breechcloths and leather leggings • Women wore wraparound skirts made of deerskin or woven fiber. • Shirts were not necessary in Natchez culture, but both men and women wore tunics in cooler weather. The Natchez also wore moccasins on their feet. They made clothes out of the deer skin in their environment

Environment • The Cherokees are original residents of most of Americas southeast region, particularly Georgia, North and South Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee • The Natchez were original residents of Mississippi and Louisiana For both tribes their climate was always warm since they are located in Southeast America. When it would be winter hunter would were leggings.

  4. Adaptation • The Cherokees adapted by having deerskin clothes and European costumes • The Natchez tribe adapted by making deerskin clothing

  5. Beliefs • The Cherokees had a strong belief that there were certain beings who came down from the skies and formed the world, the moon, and the stars. They also believe inn myths. • The Natchez believed that there is a son of the sun which was their leader The Natchez tribe always did their ceremony in the local woods with an open area as in the picture

Housing • The Cherokee tribe had houses made of river cane and plaster with thatched roofs Both tribes made their houses out of Their own resources The Natchez tribe had abode houses with thatched roofs. The Natchez houses were arranged around a village square that was used for ceremonies and sports events.

  7. Food • The Natchez tribe ate and they raised crops of corn, beans, pumpkins, and squash. Natchez men also hunted deer, wild turkeys, and buffalo and went fishing in the rivers. Natchez recipes included cornbread, hominy, and soups. • The Cherokee women harvested crops of corn, beans, squash, and sunflowers. They also gathered berries, nuts and fruit to eat. Cherokee men hunted deer, wild turkeys, and small game and fished in the rivers. Cherokee dishes included cornbread, soups, and stews cooked on stone hearths.

Transportation • The Cherokee Indians used to make long dugout canoes from hollowed-out logs • The Natchez Indians made long dugout canoes from hollowed-out cypress logs They made their own dug-out canoes from cypress located in their area, showing an example of how they adapted, also since they had bodies of water in their area.
