He discovered that… • The velocity of a seismic wave is related to the density of the material it is traveling through • Seismic waves travel faster through material with a higher density and slower through material with a lower density • MOHO has an average depth of 8 Km beneath the ocean basins and 32 Km beneath the continental surfaces
