  2. Exercise Cable Handle • We have improved a product that is currently used in every gym. • Have you ever used a cable machine with a squeaky worn handle? • We have come up with an idea to press fit a pair of bearings into the handle itself for minimal play along with no noise or high pitched squeak. • We also have come up with some alternative solutions that may be more cost effective.

  3. Continued • The two other ideas are a nylon bushing as they provide minimal friction. • The third is a steel rod with a +/- .001 tolerance. • These other ideas have been broken up in our decision matrix according to different criteria.

  4. Sealed Bearings • With sealed bearings there will be a guaranteed sung fit with close to no play. • The bearings will not require any periodic lubrication as it is sealed into the bearing. • A lubricated bearings coefficient of friction is 0.09-0.19, the lowest of the three. • Quality is at its highest and the product will last the longest of the three different design. • Along with being the best design it will be the safest. There are no pinch points to form as long as the steel rod is to say tight. Loctite will be applied to every steel rod for maximum durability.

  5. Nylon • For our second idea we decided to use a nylon sleeve between the steel rod and the handle. • Nylon’s coefficient of friction is .15-.25 as compared to steel at .74-.78. • The less friction in your workout the more the focus will be on your muscle area.

  6. Steel On Steel • With this last design we made it the cheapest to buy yet the quality could be better. • In a sense you get what you pay for. • The coefficient of steel on steel is .74-.78 which is at its highest for all of the three. • Now all three are great designs but this final design is the last of the three.
