    • What is the main idea that is trying to be proven?

    • What is the main point that the author is trying to get across?

    • What is the focus/thesis of the piece of literature, speech, film, etc.?

    • An educated guess or assumption made about a character, story, or topic based on the information from the text

  • How do we use textual evidence?

    • Analyzing a quote means describing the deeper meaning of a specific quote, or detail
