BULLY AWARENESS • BULLYING PREVENTION ACT of 2010 • Defines bullying and provides examples of physical and verbal behaviors that schools should prohibit • Prohibits bullying • Based on perceived and actual differences • On school property including buses, bus stops, school sponsored events, and school electronic devices • Requires public, private and secondary schools to draft a bullying policy to be filed with the ISBE and shared with staff, students and parents • Creates the School Bullying Prevention Taskforce

CONFRONTING THE BULLY Speak one-on-one (no audience) Assist with anger and/or problem-solving skills Help find “power” in productive ways Assist in relationship skills and relating with others ASSISTING THE VICTIM Speak one-on-one (no audience) Assist with empowerment, esteem Get friends involved to support Help find a positive outlet to handle stress, pressure, and to just have fun
