  10. OIL SEED PRODUCTION PROGRAMME (O.P.P.) The component wise physical and financial targets proposed for 2004-05

  11. MMM SCHEMES UNDER STATE WORK PLAN INTERVENTIONS/HIGHLIGHTS OF SCHEMES PROPOSED FOR 2004-05 • Integrated programme for development of cashew with special emphasis for development of fruits, vegetable, floriculture and spices would be the corner stone of work plan 2004-05. • Integrated Programme approach towards supply of inputs. • Thrust on creation of irrigation sources and distribution network for small farmers and promotion of drip & sprinkler irrigation. • Integrated Programme for crop demonstration and training of farmers. • Increase in level of mechanization to reduce cost of cultivation. • Strengthening of nurseries/tissue culture units, green houses to support extensive programme of horticulture for production of quality planting materials. • Integrated and sustainable development in the field of agriculture through watershed development.

  12. MAJOR CONSTRAINTS IN MEETING THE DESIRED RESULTS • Under MMM, the State had proposed demand for 3.50 crores (GoI 3.15 + SG 0.35) for the year 2004-05. However it was cut down to Rs. 2.22 Crores (GoI 2.00 + SG 0.22). Out of first installment of Rs. 1.00 Crores released to State under MMM, Rs. 95.0 lakhs have already been spent. Additional requirement will be approx Rs. 1.50 Crores. The 2nd instalment needs to be released for Rs. 1.50 crores.  • The State is going for promotion of multistoried cropping systems, for which subsidy towards development of infrastructure for irrigation and sprinkler system should be enhanced to 50% from existing 25%.  • Because of smallholdings, non-availability and high cost of labour, the State has given priority for mechanization. The targets under this component need to be enhanced.
