  2. Objective #1 • Behavior in-service meeting • Therapeutic brushing • Sensory processing disorder • Understand the purpose of each technique that is used during therapy and why it is beneficial to the kids and their needs.( Ex: Therapeutic brushing, “bubble monster”, mat squishes) There are different techniques that awaken the child’s sense and some that calm their nerves. Become better at knowing what will help each child while I am observing.

  3. Therapeutic Techniques Therapeutic Brushing “Mat Squishes”

  4. Patient Observation • Observation of techniques during therapy • Cuddle swing • Mat squishes • Therapeutic brushing

  5. Objective #2 • Change from Physical Therapy to Occupational Therapy • I have decided that I would like to become an occupational therapist, so I would like to observe more in that field and learn more about what kinds of therapy can be used and what types of goals occupational therapists work on.

  6. What is ot? • What is occupational therapy? • Occupational therapy addresses a person’s ability to complete their daily activities. That may be self cares like dressing, bathing or grooming skills. Homemaking skills like cooking and house work and career skills. • For children we address play skills and school skills like cutting, coloring, and writing as well as self cares. • As pediatric occupational therapist/assistant big focus of our treatment is on the child’s regulation system and their engagement with you and their peers.

  7. Objective #3 • Volunteer Rehab Assistant – primary duties • The mission of our Rehab Assistants is to assist, encourage, and support therapists and patients to ensure therapy sessions are successful. We strive to do our best to help in therapy sessions, and to make sure the facility is kept cleaned throughout the day for the safety of our patients, staff, and visitors. • Complete all of the tasks on my to-do list. However I need to become more aware of what else needs to be done without someone telling me to do it. For example, I need to take initiative to clean the rooms and toys without being asked and doing it in a timely manner so that the rooms can be used.
