  3. A cell containing a single chromosome is placed in a medium containing radioactive phosphate, so that any new DNA strands that are formed by replication will be radioactive. The cell replicates its DNA and divides. • Then the daughter cells (still in the radioactive media) replicate their DNA and divide, so that there are a total of 4 cells present. • Sketch the DNA molecules in all 4 cells showing normal DNA strands as a solid line and radioactive DNA strands as a dotted line.
