  2. History • Venus is the brightest object in the night sky except from the moon. So it was named after Venus, the Roman God of Beauty. • No one really knows who discovered Venus since it’s so bright in the sky and you can see it with your naked eyes. But Galileo Galilei first observed it. • < this is the symbol of Venus.

  3. Solar System • Venus is the second planet form the sun in the Solar System. It’s distance from the Sun is 7 23332AU (108,208,930 km) • It takes 225days to orbit the sun in Venus. So one year in Venus is equal to 225 Earth days. • But Length of one day in Venus is equal to 5832 hours. (243 days)

  4. Planet Measurements • Venus’s mass: 4.869e24 kg • Volume: 928,400,000,000 km3 • Equatorial Radius: 6,051.8 km • Mean Density: 5.24 g/cm3 • Gravity: 8.87 m/s2 • Did you know, you weigh different in the space. If you weighed 100lbs on Earth, you’ll weigh 90.7lbs on Venus.

  5. Composition and Atmosphere • Venus’s core composition is Iron, and surface composition is mostly (80%) Dusty lava plains. • Venus ‘s atmosphere is made of 97% carbon dioxide and 3% of nitrogen. Nitrogen and Carbon dioxide is the main gas, and there’s also neon, argon, water vapor, carbon monoxide, hydrogen chloride and sulfur dioxide.

  6. Surface Conditions • In Venus, it’s very hot. It’s even hotter than Mercury, which is closer to the sun than Venus is. Venus is so hot, that if you go there without any protection, you would melt. The average temperature in Venus is 450 Degrees Celsius. • Scientists believe that Venus used to have water, but it boiled away. Now, it’s quite dry and there’s only little water vapor left. The wind speed is 320km per hour and surface pressure is 90 atmospheres. (About the same as the pressure at a depth of 1 km in Earth, oceans.)

Magellan revealed some new features and also photographed remarkable surface and terrain of Venus • Magellan succeded their previous mission and mapped 84% of surface of Venus in 243 days. • Now, Magellan is going through Venus again, looking for the gaps they made first • time, • Marks in the surface of the Venus
