  2. Venus Info • Venus is the second planet from the sun. • It is one of the inner planets. • The surface temperature is about 900 degrees Fahrenheit or 484 degrees Celsius. • It is the 2nd hottest place in the Solar System. • The atmosphere is mainly carbon dioxide(96%), nitrogen(3.5%), and carbon monoxide, argon, sulfur dioxide, and water vapor (each less than 1%). • Venus’s surface is covered with craters, lava plains, mountains, and volcanoes.

  3. Venus’s Surface

  4. More Information • Venus was the first planet to be explored. • Venus has no moons. • It is 67,2300,000 miles away from the sun. • One day equals to 243 Earth days. • One year on Venus would be 225 Earth days. • One day on Venus is longer than a year. • To escape Venus’s gravity, you’d have to travel 23,300 miles per hour.

  5. Fascinting Facts • Venus was identified with Aphrodite, a Roman goddess, the goddess of love and beauty. • Venus was the patron planet warfare called Kukulcan to the ancient Mayans. • If I was on Venus I would weigh 61.1 pounds. • I would be 16 if I was on Venus. • I would be 4 months old in earth days.

  6. mars Mars

  7. Mars Myths • Scientists have said that there might be fossils of life-forms from a time when the climate was warmer and when there was liquid water. • Out of all the planets, Mars has been considered to be the solar system’s prime candidate for harboring extraterrestrial life. • It has polar ice caps, and that, looked through 19th century telescopes, appear to be similar to human-made water canals on Earth. • There are no evidence that there are civilizations on Mars.

  8. Mars Facts • Mars is the 4th planet from the sun. • It is one of the inner planets of the solar system. • Mars has two potato shaped moons, Phobos and Deimos. • Phobos means fear and Deimos means panic. • Mars’s moons are small and weirdly shaped and has cratered surfaces. • It is possible that the moons were originally asteroids that got too close to Mars and were captured by its gravity. • Mars was named after the gods of war.

  9. Mars Surface Facts • Mars is a small rocky planet. • The core is made of iron. • The crust is made of rocks. • Mars’ surface retains a record of its evolution, including impact events, atmospheric affects, and volcanism.

  10. More Mars Surface Facts • The largest volcanic mountain in the solar system is the Olympus Mons. (27 km high and 600 km across). • Mars has the largest canyon in the world, which is the Valles Marineris; it can stretch from New York to Los Angeles. It is about 1,300 miles long, 310 miles wide and about five miles deep. • The planet’s reddish color is caused by rust ( iron oxide) in the soil. • The martian atmosphere is very thin and made of 95% carbon dioxide, 3% nitrogen, and 1% of argon and other gases.

  11. Awesome Information • Mars’ orbit is about 142 million miles from the sun. • The lowest temperature could be 190 degrees. • The highest temperature can be 90 degrees. • To escape Mars’ gravity, you’ll have to travel eleven thousand two hundred miles per hour.

  13. Uranus

  14. Uranus information Uranus is the seventh planet from the sun. It is four times the size of Earth. Uranus’ temperature stays about two hundred twenty below zero all year round. Its atmosphere is made of hydrogen, helium, methane, and other gases. Uranus’ bluish-green color is a result of the methane in the atmosphere absorbing red light. It is the third largest planet in the solar system. There are eleven narrow rings around Uranus. The planet’s largest moons are Ariel, Umbriel, Titania, Oberon, and Miranda. It is said that Uranus is the father Saturn and the grandfather of Jupiter.

  15. Pictures of Uranus

  16. Fun Facts • I would be about a few month old on Uranus. • I would weigh one hundred seventy-five pounds.
