  1. 6th Grade Parent Night Mrs. Humphries – Math/Science/Social Studies Mr. Faulkner– Language Arts/Science/Social Studies Mrs. Murray-Computers (Second Semester)

  2. Promotion Standards • County Level: • Must pass (70 avg.): • Reading • Math • Two other subjects – Science, Social Studies • State Level: • Must score a Level III or Level IV on EOGs in: • Reading • Math

  3. Language Arts • Writing • Two formal writing assessments: On-Demand and Content Based • Novel Reading Projects • First one is due October 26th. • AR Books • Three are due each 9 weeks • Weekly Class Work • Basic EOG Information

  4. Math • Attendance/Make-up work • Homework daily (Check Website) • Review homework with your child • Math EOG: Calculator Active and Calculator Inactive • Accelerated Math: 15 objectives due by October 27th. Three grades will be given for Test percentage and one grade will be given based on percentage of objectives met. x/15

  5. Math and Language Arts Remediation • Tuesday or Thursday • Students who did not pass EOG in 5th grade, but were promoted. • Remediation list will be revised as needed. • Second Semester we will have remediation everyday M-Th.

  6. Social Studies/Computers • Begins second semester • The last block will be divided between Social Studies and computers with Jamie Murray • It is very important that students do not check out early unnecessarily

  7. Science • Science Fair will be in December. It is optional and will count as and two extra credit grades. Guidelines will be discussed when they become available. • Please do not leave school early unnecessarily. This may affect your child’s grade and they may fall behind with their work.
