  2. What is Hispanic Heritage Month? Hispanic Heritage Month is during the time September 15 to October 15 in the United States when Hispanic and Latino Americans are recognized for their contributions to the United States. It is also a time when the Latin Heritage is celebrated. Expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988, the day September 15 was chosen due to the fact that it is the anniversary of independence of the Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua.

Monica: Muy bien. ?De Donde eres? Sra. Santiago: Soy de Espana. Monica: ?De donde es tu papa? Sra. Santiago: Mi papa es de Argentina y Espana.

  17. The Interview Monica: ?Y de donde es tu madre? Sra. Santiago: Mi mama es de Espana. Monica: ?Que idioma habla en casa? Sra. Santiago: Habla mayoria Ingles en la casa. Monica: How difficult was it to transition from the hispanic culture to the American culture? Sra. Santiago: The first couple of months were the hardest, mostly because I spoke little English. Over time I learned the language and life became easier. Monica: Do you think the cultural differences between Hispanic and American is prominent? Sra. Santiago: Yes- in Spain many things are done differently, like when people greet each other. The differences between cultures is fairly big.
