  2. SME’S Role • Jobs creation and sustaining employment growth. • To Broaden the base of the economy. 85% of Enterprises in UAE are SME’s. • Helping in diversification policy.

  3. Definition of small enterprise • People differ in defining the small enterprise. • The world Bank definition recognizes any enterprise with less than 25 workers as a small enterprise . • No agreed upon definition in UAE.

  6. Building Skills • INTILAQAH project supported by • ABU DHABI Chamber of Commerce, • Shell, HCT and others.

  7. Intilaagah Setup and objectives: • It started in June 2003. Two courses were accomplished. a) Men course 16. b) Women course 14. Objectives are: • To raise the awareness of self-employment. • To provide an opportunity for young people to learn and think about new ideas.

  8. To assist young people to develop their business ideas. • To provide relevant information about how to start a business. • To provide training in preparation for starting a business. • Preparing business plans, financial forecasts, marketing plans, and advice on running a business.

  9. Intilaaqah program is designed to offer training in all aspects of setting up and running a small business. • Intilaaqah’s responsibilities is to ensure that young people are well prepared to undertake the challenge of a new business.

  10. Services and facilities provided by ADCCI to SME’s • Providing economic information and data. • Providing legal advice on trade & investment rules & regulations and on how to establish a business in Abu Dhabi. • Access to the Chamber site and use of its various facilities.

  11. Publications such as (Abu Dhabi Economy and International Commercial news). • A book on SME’s development & future issued 2002. • Invitation of SME’s to attend foreign trade delegations meetings. • Conferences and seminars about the SME’s.

  12. Export Promotion Section Services (EPS) • ADCCI has an export promotion section under the cap of the Trade Relations Division. • It provides the following services to the • SME’s. • Participation in Exhibitions inside & outside • the country.

  13. Services rendered by the EPS • Dissemination of information about exhibitions, deals, events, seminars. • Issuing and updating the Export Guide for • ABU DHABI • Operating the trade map for UAE with the • help of the ITC
